About Oko Immanuel
Subsea & Offshore Pipeline Engineer | MEng in Subsea Engineering
I’m Oko Immanuel, a dedicated Petroleum and Subsea Engineer with a proven track record in the oil and gas industry—from hands-on rig operations to advanced subsea design and offshore project execution. My career combines real-world offshore experience with specialized engineering expertise to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable subsea and pipeline solutions in challenging environments.
Early Career: Offshore Rig Experience
My journey began on the frontline as a roughneck, working long shifts on offshore drilling rigs. In this role, I handled heavy equipment, supported drilling operations, managed high-pressure systems, and maintained strict safety standards in extreme offshore environments.
These hands-on experiences provided me with a deep understanding of operational realities, safety risks, and the technical challenges involved in offshore drilling and pipeline systems. This practical foundation continues to shape my engineering decisions and enables me to design solutions that work not just in theory—but in the real world.
Advanced Education & Subsea Engineering Expertise
To build on my offshore experience, I pursued advanced engineering education at Texas A&M University, where I earned my Master of Engineering (MEng) in Subsea Engineering. This specialized program strengthened my technical expertise in subsea systems and offshore infrastructure.
My academic training included detailed study and application of:
- Subsea production systems
- Umbilicals, risers, and flowlines
- Subsea hardware and control systems
- Offshore pipeline design and installation
- Integrity management and inspection
- Deepwater and HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature) engineering
This combination of practical experience and advanced education enables me to bridge the gap between field operations and engineering design.
Professional Experience in Subsea & Offshore Engineering
Professionally, I have advanced into roles as a Subsea Engineer and Project Field Engineer, working directly on offshore installations and subsea production systems.
My experience includes:
- Subsea production system management
- Offshore pipeline and tieback projects
- Commissioning and system startup
- Troubleshooting and operational support
- Subsea inspection and integrity assessment
- Pipeline integrity and risk mitigation
I have worked in challenging offshore environments where safety, reliability, and technical precision are critical to project success.
